The Metals Innovation Initiative (MI2) is a bold, industry-led initiative based in Kentucky with a mission to revolutionize the future of the metals industry. By providing an executive platform for collaboration, we aim to attract and promote advanced research, foster environmental sustainability, stimulate commercialization, and drive talent development in Kentucky’s metals industry.

Our Call for Innovations 2023 is an open invitation for trailblazers and disruptors from across the country. We're seeking innovations from all stages – from budding ideas to established, revenue-generating companies. The focus is on transformative contributions in environmental sustainability, end-of-life recycling, advanced manufacturing, and workforce development.

CALL FOR INNOVATIONS

  MI2 is seeking innovations that can provide substantial benefit to its member companies including, but not limited to, the areas of environmental sustainability, end-of-life recycling, advanced manufacturing, and workforce development. MI2 will welcome innovations from anywhere in the country and will consider any innovation, from an idea to a revenue generating company. Applicants who are selected will be invited to pitch a panel in Louisville in September and will have the opportunity to secure an investment and, a pilot project with an MI2 member company.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs):

MI2 is seeking innovations that can benefit one or more of our members. These benefits could come through operational efficiency, new metallurgical innovations, sustainability innovations, or innovations that MI2 has not even contemplated.

You do not need to have formed a company to apply.
MI2 nor its partners will have any rights or claim to your idea if you apply. If you proceed in the process, then contractual arrangements will be disclosed prior to any commitments.

MI2 nor its partners will sign a confidential disclosure agreement. The number of applications which we are anticipating would not allow us to sign confidentiality agreements.

When you submit the application, the descriptions of your company will be listed on the MI2 Konexons website. So,you should not disclose any confidential information in the descriptions.
MI2 is committed to assisting in the commercialization of innovations that can move our industry forward. By applying you will be exposing your idea to a network of individuals who are committed to commercializing innovations. By submitting your idea to this challenge, if you are selected, you will have the opportunity to pilot your product or service with one or more of our member companies and you could potentially be eligible for investment from one of our partner investors.
